Early Music Duo
Mayan Goldenfeld, Israeli-Italian soprano who already sang under conductors such as Sigiswald Kuijken, Alexis Kossenko and Werner Ehrhardt had met Tung Han Hu, Taiwanese harpsichordist and 1st prize winner of the 10th Internationale Telemann Wettbewerb, during their studies in the UdK in April 2021. Since their first rehearsal, a natural musical connection was clear, and despite meeting during the Covid-19 pandemic they have managed to build an impressive repertoire, playing a concert together in the Friedenau Kammermusiksaal with pieces by Händel, Barbara Strozzi and Heinrich Schütz, and participated in a workshop exploring the repertoire of the C.P.E Bach under the guidance of Doerthe Maria Sandmann and Natalie Pfeiffer. They are both looking forward to future joint projects with repertoire by Purcell, Bernier, Haydn and Marianna Martinez in Berlin and in Munich.

Praised by the Mannheimer Morgen and Die Rheinpfalz for both her technical as well as artistic merits, Italian-Israeli Soprano Mayan Goldenfeld is currently based in Berlin, Germany and works throughout all of Europe.
Mayan has already sung under the baton of conductors such as Sigiswald Kuijken, Alexis Kossenko, Werner Ehrhardt, Michael Hofstetter, Michael Schneider, and Andrea de Carlo and with ensembles such as La Petite Bande, Neumeyer Consort, HIP Frankfurt, and the Camerata Villa Musica. Her festivals appearences include, among others, Schwetzingen Festspiele, Grandezze e Maraviglie, Festival Barocco Alessandro Stradella, I Concerti di Euterpe, Prague Early Music Festival, Koblenz International Guitar Festival, Barocknacht Burg Kronberg and Barocknacht Jagdschloss Kranichstein.
Highlights from previous seasons include her performances as the title role in Stradella's La Circe in Teatro Torlonia in Rome, Sangaride in Lully's Atys with Akademie Versailles, Galatea in Acis and Galatea with Summer opera Tel Aviv, Vespina in L'infedelta Delusa with La Petite Bande, Dorilla in La Serva Scaltra with La Petite Bande. her debut in the Schwetzinger Festspiele, and singing the titular role in scenes from Jommelli's Didone Abbandonata in a concert that was broadcast by SWR2.
Other operatic roles performed include Erice in L'ormindo, Drusilla, Amore and Damigella in L'incoronazione di Poppea, Fiorilla in Il turco in Italia, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Soeur Constance in Dialogues des Carmelites, Frasquita in Carmen, The titular role in Cendrillon, The dew Fairy in Hansel und Gretel and Despina in Cosi fan tutte.
Mayan is grateful to the Israeli Association of Operatic Arts and to the Buchholtz Foundation for selecting her to be a stipend holder for the season of 2019-2020. She is also a finalist of the Froville International Baroque Competition, a prize winner of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg competition, recipient of the Brooklyn College Theater and Performance Awards, and 1st prize winner of the Buchman-Mehta Vocal Competition. She is a recipient of the Berlin Song Festival Merit Scholarship, the AICF excellence scholarship, and the Buchman-Heiman Scholarship.
As part of her training, Mayan has participated in numerous international masterclasses such as Fondation Royaumont Rossini Formation (2019), Fondazione Cini Accademia Vivaldi (2019), IVAI Tel Aviv (2018), La Petite Bande Academy (2017), The London Song Festival (2017) The Berlin Song Festival (2017), LidalNorth Oslo (2016, 2014) and Songfest at Colburn (2015) with acclaimed musicians such as Chen Reiss, Sigiswald Kuijken, Andreas Scholl, Gemma Bertagnolli, Antonio Frigé, Kevin Murphy, Martin Katz, Sophie Daneman, Caroline Dowdle, Graham Johnson, Margo Garrett, and Lucy Shelton.
Mayan holds a Master of Music degree from the Brooklyn College Conservatory where she studied in the studio of Patricia McCaffery and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Buchman-Mehta School of Music where she studied in the class of Efrat Ben Nun. She is currently taking part in the Advance Certificate Program in early music at the Universität der Künste Berlin, where she is coaching with Prof. Doerthe Maria Sandmann.
During her studies both in the US and in Israel she performed roles such as Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica, Madama Cortese in Il Viaggio a Reims, Annina in La Traviata, Beth in The Tender Land, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Amor in Orfeo ed Euridice, and Sandman and Dew Fairy in Hänsel und Gretel.
In concert repertoire, she performed the soprano solo in Poulenc's Gloria, the soprano solo in Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music, and with the BMSM orchestra in a selection of songs from Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn.
Mayan is an avid singer of art songs and has performed regularly from 2009 to this day in both solo and chamber recitals in Felicja Blumental Hall in Tel Aviv, as well as at the Koblenz International Guitar Festival, with the BMSM concert series, the Art Song Film Project in NYC and in various independent venues in Berlin.
Tung-Han Hu
Tung-Han Hu began his music education at the age of seven.
After graduating with distinction from the Soochow University in Taiwan, he started his early music and historical keyboard instruments study under the guidance of Prof. Mitzi Meyerson at the Universität der Künste Berlin.
Soon after he received the Master of Cembalo with the highest distinction in Berlin, and he is currently pursuing dual degrees for Cembalo (Meisterklasse) and Fortepiano from October 2021, under the guidance of Prof. Christine Schornsheim at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München.
Tung-Han Hu studied piano, trombone, organ and has pursued Masterclasses with world-renowned Harpsichordists and Pianists. In 2019, as a co-founder of Ensemble Le Jonc Fleuri, he won the 10th Internationale Telemann Wettbewerb 1st Prize, Audience Prize and in additionally, he was honored with a special prize for the best basso continuo and harpsichord obbligato playing.
In 2020 he also won the audience prize from the international Biagio-Marini competition in Neuburg, Germany. He is invited to many renowned Music Festivals in Europe, such as Bachfest in Leipzig and Telemann Festtage in Magdeburg.
Tung-Han Hu is an active and passionate soloist and Basso Continuo player. His wide range of interest brings him to diverse music collaborations with worldwide artists.
He is currently dividing his time between Berlin and Munich.
